![]() Can we blame the TV series for sending them along this route? Perhaps not _ Snow Patrol have apparently moved on and are doing quite well on their latest offering, Fallen Empires (which we reviewed not too long ago).Įven with new producer Brendan O'Brien (Bruce Springsteen, Pearl Jam, Neil Young) on board, the majority of the songs on Scars and Stories fall into the same category _ maudlin mid-tempo, piano-driven semi-pop ballads fit for not much else than a soundtrack to an episode of a TV drama. That's understandable, but we're still not sure why they're so hell-bent on trying to replicate the standards they set on their debut rather than surpassing them. Released with surprisingly little fanfare, Scars and Stories is the band's latest attempt to recapture what they achieved during the How to Save a Life-dominated era. A slight follow-up album and a Christmas EP later, the boys are back with their third studio record, Scars and Stories. The American piano-rock quintet are forever indebted to TV hospital drama Grey's Anatomy for catapulting them to worldwide fame with their 2005 debut How to Save a Life. ![]()
